The chocolate diamonds sparkled as visitors gathered for the opening of Calvin Broyles Jewelers' new store in the Scott Junction Plaza in Teays Valley.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 10, Don Broyles marked the opening of the family-owned jewelry store's new location, which is just a few doors down from its previous address.
Broyles said his new location offers better lighting and more space, which will allow him to increase his line of merchandise.
As an example, Broyles now has a large display of Pandora jewelry and beads. Broyles has also added a new line of LeVian "chocolate diamonds," so named because of their color.
Chocolate diamond jewelry by LeVian is "one of the more sought-after gifts for Christmas," Broyles said.
He said there would be a "trunk show" of LeVian chocolate diamonds Dec. 6 at Calvin Broyles Jewelers South Charleston store, which is at 4708 MacCorkle Ave., S.W
Calvin Broyles Jewelers is also introducing a new line of men's gifts made by William Henry. Examples include fine knives that are all hand engraved. Some knives are available with coral handles. William Henry also makes money clips and other gifts designed for men. William Henry products are "brand new for us," he said.
"We've also expanded our Tacori bridal line (of jewelry) and Hearts On Fire bridal engagement rings," Broyles said. Another new line at Calvin Broyles includes Honora fresh-water pearls.
"They are inexpensive and fashionable."
Another display case at Calvin Bfoyles contains Belle Etoile jewelry, which incorporates sterling silver and enamel in many of its jewelry pieces.
The company's namesake, Calvin Broyles, founded Calvin Broyles Jewelers 64 years ago, and it has remained a family-owned business ever since.
In addition to its flagship South Charleston store, Calvin Broyles Jewelers has had a presence in Putnam County for 21 years.
Broyles said the Putnam County area has been a good fit for his store.
"The community has supported us, and we want to give back," he said.
Calvin Broyles Jewelers is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 8 p.m. on Thursday. During the month of December, the store will remain open until 8 p.m. each evening.
