Among the business leaders and volunteers on hand for the Portfolio Fair at Poca High School today were seven Rotarians from the Putnam club.
All Putnam students are required to complete a portfolio as a graduation requirement, and the contents are reviewed by business people in face-to-face interviews.
Not only do students hone interview skills in the portfolio events, but business people have an opportunity to meet students and be active in the life of the schools. The fairs are coordinated through the Chamber of Commerce.
Putnam students perform well in job interviews, school officials are told, and much of the credit must go to portfolio preparation and presentation. Said County Commission President Joe Haynes, "Many of our young people don't realize how much they have to offer or how to tell their story in the job market."
