Fifteenth annual Putnam county-wide Thanksgiving dinner on November 17

The 15th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for all of Putnam County has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Wellington's in Poca. The Putnam County Rotary Club introduced this concept and was soon joined by the Lions Clubs of the county, Kiwanis Club, the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and later the Putnam County Commission.

This year's dinner is open to anyone in Putnam and neighboring counties who wish to attend. Tickets for the super delicious typical Thanksgiving Dinner with pumpkin pie for dessert and drinks are just $13.00 each. Reservations for tickets can be made by calling the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce at 304-757-6510.

Members of various service clubs, civic, social and religious organizations are urged to call and make their reservations and arrangements for paying for the meals as soon as possible. This is an inspiring event to which we may all invite our friends, business associates, political leaders, church members and neighbors to attend. Nobody is excluded. Everybody is invited. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey A. Johnson, Ph.D., author of one of the finest new books on the market today, a national leader with the American Baptist Convention and pastor of the growing and expanding Mount Vernon Baptist Church, will be our guest speaker. Dr. Johnson is widely recognized for his outstanding ability as a dynamic public speaker.

Music will again be the kind that adds immeasurably to the entire event. We can look forward to the caliber of music we have enjoyed in recent years.

Chet Marshall, President of the Putnam Rotary Club, is asking all who attend to bring non-perishable food items to this special county-wide dinner. You are invited to bring as much as you wish and can to help replenish the various Community Food Cupboards throughout the county. Supplies are depleted in all of them. Many, more than usual, will be needing our generous help this year for their family's Thanksgiving Dinner.

You and your guests will enjoy traditional Thanksgiving food at its best. The meal will be ready when we begin to arrive by shortly after 11:00 a.m. You can arrive early, get your food from the well prepared buffet and enjoy a leisurely meal with your old and new friends. Many meet for the first time at this annual event. Call the Chamber of Commerce today at 304-757-6510 and make your reservations for this inspiring event.
