June 1, 2010
June was "bustin' out all over" today at Putnam Rotary as five new members took the formal pledge of "service above self."
The new members of the club had been active in Rotary for several weeks and President Chet Marshall wanted to set an initiation date when all incoming members and their sponsors could be present.
Ironically, while some new members missed the ceremony today, more were able to attend on this date after a holiday weekend than at any other time.
Formally receiving the pledge, pin and greeting from District Governor Elect Mary Keely were the following initiates:
- Jack Bailey is Editor and Publisher of The Putnam Standard. Also a former Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bailey since 1996 has served on the adjunct faculty of West Virginia State University. He and spouse Kristi are at home in St. Albans with sons Alexander and Ethan.
- Wes Crist is Branch Manager of BB&T at Great Teays Boulevard. He enjoys golf, fishing, coaching soccer and sports in general -- especially WVU football. Wes and spouse Heather are at home in Cross Lanes.
- Greg Eiler is Managing Director of CIS Internet with offices in Teays Valley and serving metropolitan Charleston, Raleigh (NC) and St. Louis (MO). Eiler received the Mayo Lister Community Service Award from the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce in 2003.
- Orville A. McFarland is Mortgage Loan Officer for First State Bank in Teays Valley. His hobbies include golf, hunting and singing. Orville and spouse Joyce are at home in Sissonville.
- Tom Moore, an agent for State Farm Insurance for 32 years, is owner of Tom Moore Agency in Teays Valley. He is a former Marine and a graduate of Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston. Tom enjoys golf in his spare time. He and spouse Saunie are at home on Mount Union Road near Hurricane.
