Dr. Bill Ellis keynotes 25th Anniversary celebration

March 31, 2009

Last Saturday evening over fifty Lions Club members turned out for a gala dinner at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Teays Valley. The occasion was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Scott Teays Lions Club, and they wanted a premier keynote speaker who could motivate the group for the next twenty-five years.

"It was one of the most powerful presentations I've heard in my entire life," Dr.Bill Ellis told Putnam Rotarians today.

"And after I had finished speaking . . . " Ellis paused for good natured laughter and applause. "After I had finished," he continued, "they told me that they were sorry that their rules would not allow them to pay me for speaking.

"But they said they could make a contribution in my name to the Putnam Rotary scholarship fund."

Despite Ellis' self-deprecating sarcasm, reports from some of those present hold that the keynote Saturday was highly inspirational in all respects.

"Bill challenged the Lions to do more by asking more people to be Lions," says Lion Boyd Harper.

"We asked Bill to be our guest speaker due to his being a Lion in the old Teays Valley Lions Club many years ago," says Harper.
