Tickets are still abailable for the first Putnam Rotary Projects and Scholarships Raffle.

Forty-eight of the limited offering of 400 tickets were taken immediately when the tickets were first available yesterday, and the remainder are expected to go quickly.

Cost of each ticket has been set at $25.

"Chances of a win are much higher than with the state lottery," said Project Director Chet Marshall.

"There will be three drawings," he said, "two for $500 each and a Grand Prize drawing of $2,000."

The two $500 drawings will be on February 24, aqnd March 31. The drawing for $2,000 will be on April 14. All drawings will be at noon at Scarlet Oaks Country Club. Holders of the winning tickets do not need to be present to win.

Putnam Rotary supports many community service projects, both locally, in the region and internationally.

Most of the work has come directly from club members through "sweat equity" and personal financial giving. The only major fund-raising project heretofore has been a golf tournament sponsored once a year.

"It's a win-win opportunity," said Marshall. "A ticket lets you give for community service and at the same time gives you a good chance to win."

Tickets are available through members of Putnam Rotary.
