Health wellness is encouraged by volunteer seminars anc clinics in the workplace, Dr. Kristi Ellison told Putnam Rotarians today.
At no cost, the Volunteer Doctors of America are providing health fairs for blood pressure screenings, diabetic testing and stress analysis for businesses, churches, or any other public gathering.
Incorporated in Ohio as a non-profit professional association, the group emphasizes preventive care as a key to good health.
The volunteers provide seminars in the workplace of 30 to 60 minutes in length. The presentation groups may be almost any size, from a dozen to several hundred.
Audience participation is a part of the program, Ellison told the group, and participants receive practical information they can use to improve their lifestyles.
The seminars focus on preventive and corrective measures which avoid the use of drugs where possible.
A stress-reduction program teaches how to locate "trigger points" for stress, how to locate and relieve them.
