Gary Ballard today presented Putnam Rotarians with $1,000 from Poca Baptist Church to support an orphanage and secondary school in Uganda.

The grant today follows a similar gift for $1,000 through the ministry of Poca Baptist in April, 2007.

The gift to the Divine Secondary School near Entebbe built a shelter and purchased 1,000 vaccinated baby chicks. The mature chickens now provide food and income for the orphanage. And the one-time chicken house has been recycled into a dormitory for new students.

The grant today will be part of a matching grant application to the Rotary International Foundation for vocational training equipment to teach and provide additional income for the school.
