They took a train from Chicago across three mountain ranges to Los Angles to represent Putnam at the 2008 Rotary International Convention June 15-18. On the return trip, the train was stopped by high water in St. Louis, and the travelers returned to West Virginia by automobile.

At a luncheon meeting today, Randy Lucas and Laberta Salamacha shared highlights of their odyssey and the convention with local Rotarians, and Lucas presented club president Tom Midkiff with a banner commemorating the west coast event.
