Putnam Rotarian Don Broyles has been recognized by District 7550 for his leadership initiative as a team leader for a Group Study Exchange.

Persons selected to participate on a GSE team must be 25 to 40 years old, and not a Rotarian or related to a Rotarian.

For a qualified team, Rotary International pays for round trip air fare to a host country and Rotarians in the host country provide meals, lodging and travel for four to six weeks.

Team members study the host country's institutions, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas.

In March 2006, Broyles led a team of five young professionals from southern West Virginia on a study tour to the state of Victoria in southern Australia.

A jeweler by trade, Broyles is a recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award, the highest honor given by Rotary International. A Past President of Putnam Rotary, he has been elected for a second term as President of the Putnam group for 2007-2008.
