November 15, 2004

Diana L. Wilson, Development Officer for the CAMC Foundation, will visit with Putnam Rotarians at their meeting of Tuesday, December 7th, President Don Broyles announced today. Wilson will discuss plans for establishment of a regional patient simulation site at Charleston Area Medical Center.

The introduction of a patient simulation center at CAMC will represent a significant change in the provision of health care education.

The development of this center would provide for one of the only regionally based, multiple user facilities in the country.

The simulation center will provide a realistic learning environment that places students in a life-like situation with resources they would customarily experience in the hospital or other health care settings.

When completed, the 7,000 square-foot center will have simulation stations that will represent an operating room, an emergency department, a critical care room, a general care room, a clinic room and a pediatric room.

The patient simulation center will be a significant draw to recruit physicians and other health professions to CAMC and southern West Virginia.
