November 2, 2004 Rotarian R. Joseph Haynes has won a seat on the Putnam County Commission according to election returns today. Haynes, a Republican, decided to run for the seat in June after the original candidate was found to be registered as a Democrat. Haynes had faced a legal challenge that went to the Supreme Court of Appeals. The Court ruled last week to uphold a lower court ruling to leave his name on the ballot. A newcomer to politics, Haynes has been a spokesman for American Electric Power’s John Amos plant for several years. In addition to community service through Rotary, he has "partnered" several of the schools in the county with the John Amos facility. In the photo above, Haynes contributes a "happy dollar" Tuesday because the election was over. The "happy dollar" fund supports the Literacy Volunteers of Putnam. More Putnam Rotary News?
